Canned Salmon Patties

This is my go-to quick and healthy recipe for canned salmon cakes. These salmon cakes are similar to crab cakes but the main ingredient is canned salmon. It takes only 15 minutes to prepare this meal and it can be enjoyed with salad, bread, or even on its own. This beginner-friendly recipe is totally customizable and uses ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 of a large head or 1 small head of purple cabbage
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 can salmon
  • 1 medium sized carrot
  • 2 sticks celery
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tbs ground pepper
  • 1 tbs salt
  • Cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Finely chop medium-sized onion and sautee on an oiled pan until onion begins to slightly brown.
  2. Add chopped carrot and celery to onion, stirring until vegetables begin to soften. Once softened set vegetables aside and allow them to cool.
  3. After draining the canned salmon, add to a medium-sized bowl with the cooled vegetables and mix with your hands.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Once happy with the taste, add eggs and combine thoroughly.
  6. Heat up a large oiled pan. Once the pan has heated up make small ball shapes out of the salmon mixture and gently press to form a patty shape. Fry patty on the pan until it begins to brown (about 7 mins each side).
