Easy Apple Cake

You are going to love this quick and easy apple cake recipe. The slight vanilla flavor of the cake combined with the sweetness of the apple is a match made in heaven. Pair it with some vanilla ice cream for an even better treat. This easy apple cake is perfect for a special occasion or event. This was my mom’s go-to apple cake recipe and every time I make it I remember how she made it when I was a kid.

This recipe is easy to follow for bakers of all levels. It uses only simple, easy-to-find ingredients that you might already have in your kitchen. I have found that granny smith apples taste best in this recipe, but feel free to try different apple varieties.

Having an electric mixer is helpful when making this easy apple cake.

Ingredients

  • 5 large Granny Smith apples
  • 5 tbs softened butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, melted butter, baking powder, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Once combined add eggs and continue to mix.
  3. Pour batter into baking pan and set aside(my pan is about 8×8 in)
  4. In another bowl add 1 can peaches drained and diced
  5. Lightly butter your baking tin and sprinkle breadcrumbs over surface
  6. Peel, de-core, and slice apples into eighths.
  7. In a mixing bowl combine sugar and softened butter.
  8. Add flour, baking powder, and eggs and mix using an electric mixer.
  9. One well combined pour about half of the batter into your baking tin.
  10. Place all apple slices on top of the batter.
  11. Pour the remaining batter over the apples.
  12. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  13. Once fully baked, sprinkle powdered sugar over the cake and serve plain or with a side of ice cream.
